Cuyo Region
Mendoza
Located at latitude 32 degrees south in a great location,
Mendoza provides high quality wines.
The average height is 900 m with alluvial soils, irrigation
pure melting of the Cordillera de los Andes and an average of
300 days of sunshine make this region an oasis for wine
production.
Mendoza province is divided into three major regions. The so-called
Northern Oasis, the city of Mendoza and surroundings, the
Oasis Center, including the city of General Alvear and the
South Oasis covering the thriving city of San Rafael.
San Juan
In San Juan, viticulture
takes place mainly in the Valley of Tulum. Other areas in
which it develops in the valleys of Zonda and Ullum, located
between the Andes and the Sierra de Pie de Palo, on both
sides of the river San Juan. The vine is also grown in other
higher mountain valleys and therefore cooler, and 1,165 m
Calingasta
The soils located on the left bank of the river are rocky
and partly covered with clay and sand suitable for the
cultivation of the vine. Those located on the right bank of
high fertility are generally sandy, clayey and shallow.
Irrigation water is suitable for agricultural use, being
mainly provided by the San Juan River and to a lesser extent
by the river Jáchal.

Northwest Region
Salta
At the heart of the province of Salta and located within the
stunning CALCHAQIES VALLES, lies the town of Cafayate, which
has the highest vineyards in the world (1,700 m). In it, the
thematic inns and vineyards are the ideal place for their
development and are based on a deep sandy loam soil, which
makes irrigation canals, mantle or dripping, with a
temperate climate and dry, kind to the cultivation of vid.
This town some 20 km distant. the city of Salta to about 25
degrees south latitude and 66 degrees west longitude, are
produced and marketed high warm wine for everyone. The main
production wine production comes from the Torrontes this
valley, but also produces cabernet, malbec and chardonnay.
Catamarca
El Valle de Catamarca has an annual rainfall of between 100
and 300 mm. with soils are deep, loamy-sandy soils and high
summer temperatures and cold nights. Towards the Andes the
annual rainfall is less than 200 mm, and occur mainly in
summer.
The soils are fairly homogeneous, medium and fine texture,
poor in organic matter, calcareous and in general, little
salt. There is a clear predominance of pink and white
varieties of vinification. On the west, the department
Tinogasta, concentrates 80% of the vineyard area of the
province, engaged in the production of grapes for fresh
consumption and for wine, with regional wines that are made.
La Rioja
The most important wine region of the province is located in
the VALLEY OF FATIMA, west of the province, between Mace de
Velasco to the east and west Famatina snowy.
The Valleys region has Famatina optimal conditions for grape
growing: more than 1,100 meters. on sea level alluvial soils
with loamy to sandy-frank, low humidity, only 150 mm. annual
rainfall, high brightness and an average temperature range
in summer, ranging from 35 ° C during the day and drops to
17 ° C at night. All this is favored by a South - North of
the mountain ranges that prevents the first and the last
rays of sunlight fall directly on the vines.

Patagonia Region
Rió Negro
It is 39 degrees south latitude. It is a long valley which
rises at the foot of the Andes and extends at the junction
of the rivers Neuquén and Limay. It comprises the
departments of General Roca in the province of Black River
and Confluence in the province of Neuquén. It is one of the
southernmost regions of the world where grapes are grown
thin and is located at a lower altitude within Argentina
(300 m).
Because the climate is colder than in other regions, the
musts were characterized by higher acidity which includes a
high proportion of malic acid and sugar content less wealth. |
